No official rolling Martin County 72-hour release list or distinct feed URL was found. Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, known as BSRDC, houses ordinary Martin County detainees at its Paintsville facility. The official BSRDC roster shows current custody. It did not expose a Released status choice or a release-date range during the research review.
Expanding a search from one day to three days does not reveal records that the public interface suppresses. Nor can current bookings be relabeled as recent releases. Someone absent from the roster might have gone home, entered Kentucky DOC custody, moved to another jail, been taken by a federal or immigration authority, or simply failed to match because of an error or spelling difference.

A three-day review works best as a dated inquiry, not a broad roster scrape. List the names and the approximate span first. Use identifiers whenever possible, since one shared name can connect the wrong booking, court case, or correctional record.

- Request the existing booking/release sheet, including release date and time, disposition code, booking number, and receiving agency where applicable.
- Review the Martin County docket and relevant order for the legal cause, such as bond, dismissal, time served, sentence, or probation.
- Follow any receiving agency into KOOL, another jail locator, the BOP Inmate Locator, or ICE ODLS. Do not stop at the BSRDC custody end.

Read a release code conservatively. Bond can end physical custody while a case remains open. Probation can involve supervision in the community. Parole is conditional community release within the state framework. Transfer is not community release, and an ICE handoff may begin a different kind of custody.
Martin County Weekend Release Checks
A three-day span is helpful after a weekend because it keeps more than one possible event date in view. It does not cure the lack of a public release archive. BSRDC publishes office hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and says the office is closed on weekends and designated holidays. For a named person, leave a clear request with BSRDC during office availability and check VINE while waiting. If the question turns on why the person left, retrieve the relevant court order. Weekend note: A wider date range reduces the chance of overlooking a day, but it cannot turn the current roster into release history.
Martin County Three-Day Fallbacks
Start with BSRDC because its booking/release record is the direct source for a regional-jail custody event. Ask for existing records tied to a person and approximate booking or release dates. Helpful identifiers include the full name, birth date when appropriate, booking number, and arresting county. Ask for the booking/release sheet, timestamps, disposition, and nonexempt transfer or receiving-agency document.
Kentucky VINE is a status and notification channel for participating jail and state records. Kentucky's official description says a no-longer-in-custody result supplies that status and a date released. A VINE release from the local jail record can still coexist with active Kentucky DOC custody after a handoff, so compare the record type and facility.
Use KOOL for a Kentucky DOC offender, including someone moved from BSRDC after commitment. A projected release date, good-time date, parole-eligibility date, or proposed date is not an actual release. Use the BOP locator for sentenced federal prisoners at USP Big Sandy or its camp. For a possible ICE handoff, search ODLS and obtain BSRDC's receiving-agency field. Each tool covers its own custody system.
The Martin County clerk record can explain the underlying case. District Court generally covers misdemeanors and early felony proceedings, while a felony prosecution moves to Circuit Court after indictment. Ask for actual docket entries and orders rather than relying on a charge summary.
Martin County Release Versus Handoff
The end of BSRDC custody is only one part of the inquiry. A community release means the person left confinement there without an immediate transfer into another custodial system. A Kentucky DOC commitment, out-of-county warrant pickup, federal transfer, or ICE handoff continues custody even though BSRDC closes its own record.
KOOL is the state track. It may show an institution, supervision status, or other DOC context, but it is not a historical list of all Martin County jail bookings. The BOP locator is the federal track. A past date with Released means BOP custody ended; In Transit means movement in custody. ICE ODLS is a separate immigration track and can have update delays and exclusions.
Supervision also needs precise language. Someone on parole or probation may be physically in the community while still subject to supervision. Discharge occurs when that obligation ends and can be much later than release from a jail or prison. A three-day jail review should not imply that all correctional control ended.
Why Martin County Roster Data Misleads
The BSRDC software includes generic capabilities for release fields, but its local configuration controls public access. The second setting removes released results and release-search controls from public view.
That backend retention value must not be treated as a public archive. It does not prove that a person remains searchable for 400 days, and it does not support a 72-hour list. No public released-record retention period or official update schedule was found. A current roster photo also does not become a public released-person gallery once the profile drops away.
The image from the official BSRDC roster provides a visual check of the public search form and current-record focus. It is useful for recognizing the right portal, not for claiming that the portal has hidden three-day results.
A careful three-day review also keeps identity details and dates in their own lanes. Compare middle name, suffix, age or birth date, booking number, PID or DOC number, federal register number, county, and facility as relevant. Do not connect a BSRDC record to KOOL or a court case just because the first and last names match.
Record at least the court order date, the facility movement time, and the VINE or roster update time. Supervision may have its own start date. A difference among those dates does not by itself show an error. It often shows that a court, a jail, and a notification service recorded separate stages. Cite the source beside each date instead of forcing them into one guessed release time.
If the record needs correction, take the issue to its creator. BSRDC says it will attempt to verify and correct an inmate-record error reported to it. The Martin County Circuit Court Clerk is the route for a wrong court disposition, and Kentucky DOC handles KOOL. Give the exact field and a reliable contrary document so the custodian can test the claim.
